GUIDES TO THE FMVSS
At the request of several of our vehicle manufacturer clients, Lindsey Research has developed guides that are Cliff’s Notes for the more involved and difficult Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. These guides are designed to eliminate the need to decipher hundreds of pages of the Code of Federal Regulations in order to obtain a working knowledge of the subject standard. We have organized each standard into an understandable format making these guides an invaluable tool for manufacturers, managers, engineers, lawyers and anyone who needs to quickly obtain a handle on the subject.
FMVSS 208, Occupant Protection
This standard has been divided into seat belt requirements and air bag requirements. The air bag requirements are further categorized by the anthropomorphic dummy that is used as the test device for each requirement. Ninety eight pages of the Code of Federal Regulations have been distilled into twenty three. The section number of each requirement is cited next to the explanation of the requirement for ready reference.
FMVSS 108 Nt; Lamps Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment
This standard is written for two audiences; those who produce lamps and associated lighting equipment and those who use these items to equip vehicles. Our guide addresses only the requirements that apply to manufacturers of vehicles of 1000 lbs. GVWR or less. The requirements are organized by the lighting that appears on the front, side and rear of a vehicle. The section number of each requirement is cited next to the explanation of the requirement for ready reference.
